Openwork moucharabieh-style woodwork, decorated with textiles by us
Following our research for materials at the end of 2023, and Prelle having offered us a perfect setting for our next creation, we embarked on the creation of openwork moucharabieh-style woodwork, decorated with textiles by our care. This 2m wide by 1m high woodwork is placed under the base of a wall hanging of the “Les Pivoines” fabric from the Prelle factory.
A wooden panel was first cut out according to the patterns of the fabric. We then imagined and created the decor for the panel. Depending on the shape of the space to be filled on the panel and by using different shapes in order to vary the textures of our decoration, we have garnished each openwork space of the wooden panel with braids in the colors of the fabric.
No less than 1000 m of braid were woven in our workshop for the occasion, in the colors of the fabric and in widths specifically adapted to the destination in the cutting of the wood and the shaping process.
Once the woodwork is in place, its design appears, echoing the fabric from which its pattern originated.
This new material proposition will be visible in 2024 in the Parisian showroom of the Prelle factory. Thank you to this magnificent house for its trust and audacity when we sketch out a project together!
